Insight of the Month
Dear Friends,
Happy Valentine's Day! I decided to capitalize on the February issue's
proximity to this celebration of love. Accordingly, your insight this month
focuses on "conversations of the heart" the kind we have with ourselves.
Wishing you love, joy and laughter in all of your relationships ...
My best to you!
Claudette
Conversations of the Heart
Have you had a conversation with your heart lately?
In our head-based, busy, technological society, we often lose touch with our
hearts. This disconnection is to our detriment: the heart is our emotional
center, it's the seat of self-love and it's one of the first harbingers that we
are on the right path or the wrong one. Simply put, the heart is a fantastic
source information about you.
I've often wondered what it would be like to follow my heart's lead for a day.
What would I choose differently? What would I give to myself? How would my
actions change?
Here are three questions to start you down the path of self-love:
What do I want? Once you can answer this question, you can answer many
other of life's questions. Knowing what you want is the foundation of self-love,
fulfillment and our ability to give of ourselves in a meaningful way.
How does it make me feel? Being a recovering over-thinker, I have a habit
of trying to mentally process my way out of a situation, analyze it from all
fronts and just generally beat it to death. About a year ago, I started
employing the question, "How does it make me feel?" and much of the mental
processing dropped away. In other words, if something makes me feel good
emotionally, then it's probably good for me. If it makes me feel bad, that bears
further exploration. It's really that simple. Asking this question can be the
shortest route to getting the answers you seek.
What's the message from my heart? I love this question too. My heart
usually has useful, soulful and informative messages. I bet yours does too. When
you first ask yourself this question, you may not hear an answer immediately.
Training your heart can take some time; I encourage you to persevere with this
question. Over time, you'll hear an answer.
Whether you buy into Valentine's Day or not, let self-love rule your world for a
few days and see what happens. We don't need Cupid's arrow to make us fall in
love with ourselves, we only require a healthy dose of heart-based living.
Listen to your heart and you'll be surprised at what you hear.

I love this poem by Dawna Markova and wanted to share it
with you:
I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
Of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
To allow my living to open me,
To make me less afraid,
More accessible,
To loosen my heart
Until it becomes a wing,
A torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
To live so that which came to me as seed
Goes next to blossom,
And that which came to me as blossom,
Goes on as fruit.
